about
In a different era, the members of Palisades would have written 1000-page novels made only of fragments, smuggled past mirror-eyed guards in rogue states. Or shot films about films before disappearing with what was left of the bank account. Instead, they make hyper-literate pop music.
In terms of format, Palisades might be as simple as it gets: guitar, bass, drums, two voices. All the gears are exposed, with little room to hide. However, these limited tools fail to limit this relatively new Lexington, KY, 3 piece from creating a full, textured sound that appeals to both casual listeners and jaded indie rock aesthetes.
Drawing on disparate influences such as The Jam, early R.E.M., Elvis Costello, and Big Star, they released their debut e.p., Luxury and Riot, in December, 2010. They have shared stages with artists such as Amy Lavere, These United States, Rich Robinson, The Vicious Guns, and Gringo Starr.
